SSC formed as a band in the city of Västerås (1 h drive from
Stockholm) back in may 2013 when Dan, Stefan and Magnus left the local band Seven. The
reasons were mainly that Stefan and Dan had song ideas that was not well received with the
other song writers and the band Sevens tradition. So instead of grinding the stone very slowly
they decided to part ways. The drummer Magnus believed in those ideas and followed.
Quickly they recorded two simplified demos (Just A Game and Forever). But since they had no
singer they actually asked Sevens old singer Patric Fagerberg to sing on the demos. At the
same time Stefan and Dan started to build the bands social media connections. The two demo
songs were well received from those connections and has got lots of air time from internet
stations around the states and still do. Somewhere in that period the band found another
guitarist Markus Elofsson and shortly after a singer in Gustav Boger. In fall 2013 they recorded a
more proper demo: Another Day of Life. That song also found its way to different stations on
the web and was well received by the bigger group of followers on social media. After a while
they changed the guitarist from Markus to Osman and started to write new songs and play a
couple of small gigs. The consistent social media work started to pay off.
But the band always wanted to make more and better recordings to have something to show and
to increase the possibilities to play live. Time passed slowly and a couple of new songs where
written. In spring 2015 they released the song Cast Your Shadow. A somewhat heavier song
than the first songs of the band but a hint of how the song writing started to improve and take a
more consistent direction. Inspired by bands like Alter Bridge, Dream Theater’s more melodic
approach and traditional hard rock with strong melodies like Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains and
Ozzy. They now felt ready to head into the studio.
Late summer of 2015 the band decided to part ways with the singer Gustav. A band with loads
of good songs in the heavy traditional hard rock genre to record and release but no singer that
could deliver them. But finding a singer was not easy. The band didn’t want to wait since the 11
songs felt really strong so they started to record the album anyway in may 2016.
Luck where on our side though. The engineer knew a guy (Jörgen) he recorded with a couple of
years back (Griffen, available on Spotify etc). We gave him a teaser of a song and he loved it
and really fitted the band profile.
And the album is finally done. The album is sent for mastering and we have exciting things to
There you have it. The short story of a hard working band that has been dedicated to grow in
different ways. All of the guys in the band are 40+ with families and has never been closer to a
good break of getting the music out to a bigger audience. The band has a big supporting act on
social media and hopefully the people that support us all over the world will get their wait worth.
