Winterfylleth detail their upcoming album

Winterfylleth detail their upcoming album

Two years after the release of their seminal album The Divination of Antiquity (2014), pioneers of contemporary UK Black Metal, Winterfylleth return with their highly anticipated new release, The Dark Hereafter on Spinefarm/Candlelight Records. Musically we find the band progressing their ideas and moving into uncharted territories; exploring longer, more expansive songs and building on their signature sound with style & intent. Thematically The Dark Hereafter casts a light on how we are now seeing the negative, long term effects of bad policy making and global oligarchy playing out in our societies, how we have learnt all of these lessons before and yet ignore the wisdom of the ages.

Featuring 5 brand new tracks, The Dark Hereafter finds Winterfylleth at their most musically focused and lyrical best. The band once again used the amazing production talents of Chris Fielding at Skyhammer Studio and Tim Turan and Turan Audio to make the record a reality. Speaking about the new record, guitarist Chris Naughton said;

“After two years away we are really pleased to share this new record with you all. We thought a lot about making it, what it has to say lyrically, what that means and how we progress along with that as a band approaching our 10th year of existence. In recent years it feels like we have been living in an uncertain and unsettling world, and on ‘The Dark Hereafter’ we wanted to bring the issues surrounding that uncertainty to life, within these new songs. They carry a lot of meaning and sentiment for us and we hope they will also have that meaning for you too. We look forward to seeing you all along the way in 2016/17!”

Winterfylleth are: -
C. Naughton – Guitar/Vocals
S. Lucas – Drums
N. Wallwork – Bass/Backing Vocals
D. Capp – Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals
M. Deeks – Keyboard/ Backing Vocals

ZAKK WYLDE TO RELEASE BOOK OF SHADOWS II ON APRIL 8 2016

ZAKK WYLDE TO RELEASE BOOK OF SHADOWS II FIRST SOLO RELEASE IN 20 YEARS Guitar icon Zakk Wylde will release Book Of Shadows II on April 8th 2016 via Spinefarm Records, his first solo release in 20 years. This release is the highly anticipated follow up to 1996’s Book of Shadows LP, a classic album Wylde released between his work with Ozzy Osbourne that has since become a fan favourite. Book Of Shadows II was recently named as one of the "Most Anticipated Metal Releases of 2016" via Rollingstone.com.

Wylde has been feverishly working on new material since he wrapped up Black Label Society’s "Unblackened" spring tour last year. All songs on Book of Shadows II were recorded and produced at Wylde’s legendary home studio, The Black Vatican, which produced several of Wylde’s recent releases. The new effort will be followed by a wave of tour dates in support to be announced soon.

Zakk Wylde is no stranger to showing the lighter, introspective side of his music, having previously released two Black Label Society albums of stripped down material. The Song Remains Not the Same was released in 2011 which included acoustic versions of songs originally released on Order of the Black and 2013’s Unblackened, a live acoustic album that was recorded live at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

Dead and Company Might Be Back in 2016

Dead and Company Might Be Back in 2016

Dead and Company, the Grateful Dead offshoot band, will apparently continue into 2016.

John Mayer seemed to confirm that during what was to be a tour-ending performance. “At the risk of rocking any boats, known and unknown, we’ll see you next year,” said Mayer, who’s taken over for the late Jerry Garcia in a band that features all of the living members of the Grateful Dead save for Phil Lesh.

Dead and Company grew out of last summer’s hugely successful Grateful Dead farewell concerts, dubbed Fare Thee Well, held in Santa Clara, Calif., and then at Soldier Field in Chicago. Those shows featured Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzman, Lesh and Bob Weir, along with guests Trey Anastasio of Phish, Jeff Chimenti and Bruce Hornsby.

Just weeks later, Dead and Company announced a fall tour, with a rejiggered Lesh-less lineup now featuring Mayer, Chimenti and Otiel Burbridge, formerly of the Allman Brothers Band. “Those songs weren’t done with us,” Weir said at the time; he explained Lesh’s absence by saying “it was a matter of who wanted to get back out on the road and keep doing it.”

Dead and Company played 19 shows through New Year’s Eve, offering a set laden with Grateful Dead standards and a few choice covers. Mayer made his comments on stage at the Los Angeles Forum, in a set that included an update of John Lennon‘s Beatles-era classic “Dear Prudence.”

Part Two Of Video Commentary On New Album

DEF LEPPARD released its new, self-titled studio album on October 30. The effort was made available through earMUSIC worldwide (excluding North America, Japan) in the following formats: CD, 2LP gatefold, digital download and on all streaming services.

Part two of a new track-by-track commentary on "Def Leppard" can be seen below.

"Def Leppard" track listing:

01. Let's Go (5:01)
02. Dangerous (3:26)
03. Man Enough (3:54)
04. We Belong (5:06)
05. Invincible (3:46)
06. Sea Of Love (4:04)
07. Energized (3:23)
08. All Time High (4:19)
09. Battle Of My Own (2:42)
10. Broke 'N' Brokenhearted (3:17)
11. Forever Young (2:21)
12. Last Dance (3:09)
13. Wings Of An Angel (4:23)
14. Blind Faith (5:33)

Total running time: 54:24

"Def Leppard" entered The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 10 with first-week sales of just over 30,000 units — nearly all from pure album sales.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

The "Let's Go" video can be seen below. DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott told RollingStone.com about the track: "It's a call to arms, you know? Rick Savage [bass] wrote 80 percent of the song. I wrote the verses, he wrote all the music and the choruses. He came in with it, and we knew it was a classic DEF LEPPARD song. It's that three-minute pop-rock stuff with big chunky guitars and a big chorus. And it has that swaggering, mid-tempo rhythm, like 'Sugar', and 'Rock Of Ages'. The idea was, we wanted something familiar. I mean, when AC/DC comes back after years away, you're not going to get 'Bohemian Rhapsody' from 'em, you know? And you don't want it, either — you want 'Back In Black', or something like it. For us, this is what we do. And it's something we enjoy doing."

Elliott told North Dakota's Grand Forks Herald that the band's new album is a self-titled affair "because that's what it sounds like. It doesn't sound like any one specific era of DEF LEPPARD. It's got everything. You'll listen and you go, 'Oh, that sounds like DEF LEPPARD,' or you'll go, 'That is LEPPARD, but it sounds a bit like LED ZEPPELIN or QUEEN but you can hear the AC/DC or the CROSBY, STILLS & NASH coming through.' We have not shied away from anything that's influenced us in our growing up periods of our life. Just because we've made the kind of music we've made doesn't mean to say we don't like all of this other stuff."

The album is the band's first studio effort since "Songs From the Sparkle Lounge" in 2008.

AC/DC Fans Barred from Drinking At Auckland Concert

According to Stuff.co.nz, a temporary ban on liquor for AC/DC's December 15 concert at Western Springs Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand has been instituted by a local council.

Waitemata Local Board voted unanimously in support of a temporary liquor ban at their board meeting on November 10.

A senior sergeant with the Auckland police wrote a letter to the Auckland council requesting the dry zone around Western Springs Stadium, explaining that temporary liquor bans have "significantly assisted in curbing alcohol-related harm and offending in public areas." He added that an inspector also went through "the levels of intoxication and alcohol-related harm that was likely at this type of event."

The ban will be in effect for 24 hours around the arena, beginning at 6 a.m. on December 15. There will be a $250 fine for those caught consuming or in possession of alcohol. Surrounding streets in a loop around the stadium and the Auckland Zoo will also be included in the restricted area.

AC/DC's sixteenth studio album, "Rock Or Bust", has sold around 552,000 copies since debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard album chart back in December 2014.

It's the band's first album without founding guitarist Malcolm Young, who is suffering from dementia. He has been replaced by nephew Stevie Young.

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was arrested last November at his home in Tauranga, New Zealand on charges of threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis.

Although Rudd played on "Rock Or Bust", he did not appear in photos or videos for the disc.

One-time AC/DC drummer Chris Slade officially joined the band's lineup for its performance on the February 8 Grammy Awards telecast. Slade is also behind the kit for the group's current world tour.
