Interview with Crystalball
RMN: Where are you from and what’s the origin of your band name?
CRYSTALBALL: Crystal Ball is from Lucerne, Switzerland.
2013, after a longer break, CRYSTAL BALL came back stronger than ever, with the album «Dawnbreaker»! The original members Scott Leach and Marcel Sardella reformed CRYSTAL BALL with fresh blood and a great new frontman, Steven Mageney from Wuppertal, Germany. Steven is a experienced singer and the perfect match for the new CRYSTAL BALL Sound. After the release of «Dawnbreaker», the band played 40 shows in six countries. Their successful tours with Krokus and The Poodles made it clear for all the show attendants: The Balls are back … for good!
The band didn’t pause at all and releases already on 22nd of May the new album „LifeRider“. The new songs are fresh and modern but still classic.
Crystal Ball masters the balancing act between hard rock and modern Metal and you can hear and see the bands eagerness to rock.
RMN: Introduce shortly your band members and history
CRYSTALBALL:
Steven Mageney – lead vocals (since 2012)
Scott Leach – lead guitar (founding member)
Tony „T.C.“ Castell (since 2015) (ex-Krokus, ex-Shkara)
Cris Stone – bass (since 2013) (ex-Stoneman)
Marcel Sardella – drums (founding member)
RMN: What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
CRYSTALBALL: Between Hardrock and Melodic Metal.
Mostly bands form the 80ies but also some newer stuff. Not one particular band though. A mix of many styles and bands.
RMN: What are the main themes or topics for your songs?
CRYSTALBALL: Personal experiences, dreams, wishes, thoughts all around ones life.
Some historical stuff (especially on the TimeWalker Album)
RMN: Where have you already performed and do you have any upcoming shows?
CRYSTALBALL: We played about 500 shows since 1999 (and none at all between 2008 –2013) all over europe.
Most of them in Switzerland and Germany though.
