Interview with POLE POSITION
We proudly present you a short interview and band presentation:
RMN: Where are you from and what’s the origin of your band name?
POLE-POSITION: Hi, I’m Cecilie Helle from Aalesund, Norway. Singer in the Norwegian Melodic Metal band Pole Position. The name was formed before I joined, the band stood ready on stage to gig without a name, under the eve of the presentation of the band, someone threw out a name: Pole Position.
RMN: Introduce shortly your band members and history
POLE-POSITION: Cecilie Helle on vocals, the energic troublemaker, Experiences from various bands, choirs and as a soloist
Kurt Eilif Hætta the founder, also play guitar in the Norwegian Ethnic progmetal band Sagittarius and his solo project Work In Progress. Hætta characteristics are the bluesy guitar solos that give the songs icing on the cake
Riff Master Sindre Myskja, We write our songs based on our second talented guitarist riffs. Unique specimen, also plays guitar in “Suncrown” + “Jam Session Boys + more
Steady drummer, best for miles around. Lødemel is a chameleon, playing any instrument he grabs, plus he has an soild vocals, he is a arrangemet champion.
John the steady, with Lødemel they constitute a solid train, John also plays guitar. Experiences from various bands, our youngest member.
RMN: What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
POLE-POSITION: I consider our music to be Melodic Hard Rock or Melodic Metal, the vocals are kinda pop. We have great variety in musical tastes in the band, but our biggest influences are Black Sabbath, Foo figher, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, Wolfmother, Jørn Lande, Whitesnake with multiple more.
RMN: What are the main themes or topics for your songs?
POLE-POSITION: The Main themes in our songs are my life and things I’ve experienced + a little dose of fiction, I was born and raised tile of Norwegian dramatic scenery, hence I am inspired by mountains and the raging sea.
RMN: Where have you already performed and do you have any upcoming shows?
POLE-POSITION: We have had several concerts in November 2014, January 2015 and April 2015, we are looking for gigs beyond our hometown, and Europe, we are invited to tour the United States, we now saving money to travel to United States in the fall 2015 or next springn 2016.
RMN: Any last words?
POLE-POSITION: Social media has had a great impact on our success, we have been online for six months since the first release and got 17,000 followers in our fanbase, Twitter is king to build music network, where I met like-minded, welcome to the Indie Bowl! Cause It’s all about getting our music out in the world and get on radio playlists \m/
